A Number of Hurt as In-Flight Disturbance Impacts Delta Plane into Sydney, Australia
Several people have been injured following a Delta Airlines flight originating in Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia encountered significant turbulence this past Friday.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson told. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Emergency medical services reported they evaluated five individuals, and took three to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised spinal discomfort and migraines. The injured spanned from their thirties and seventies.
It is the latest incident of commercial jets encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists indicating that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the representative added, stating that the plane arrived "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.
The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they were alerted just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
