EPL Headlines: Cole Palmer Set for Chelsea Return; Idrissa Gueye's Failed Red Card Appeal Lacks Explanation

1. Top Talent Palmer Ready for High-Stakes Capital Clash with The Gunners

The Blues head coach Enzo Maresca announced on the final weekday that Cole Palmer is set to return for the squad's vital top-flight fixture against local opponents Arsenal.

The 23-year-old English international was out of action due to a fractured toe sustained after an unfortunate occurrence.

“He is ready to start and participate,” Maresca commented. “The whole team is delighted.”

This season, Palmer has been limited to four outings in every contest, finding the net on two occasions.

Following his transfer from City in 2023, he has recorded 45 strikes and 29 setups in 101 appearances for Chelsea.

“He is our best player, we are happy he is back, we need to allow him time to be 100% fit,” Maresca added. “His past performances have been excellent and no doubt he is going to do very good for this club in the future.”

2. The Toffees Get No Explanation for Failed Idrissa Gueye Red Card Challenge

Everton have failed in their challenge against Idrissa Gueye's dismissal for an on-field altercation with teammate Michael Keane during the team's 1-0 victory at Manchester United.

The 36-year-old Senegalese player was dismissed only 13 minutes into the game after striking Keane amid a dispute over a poor pass.

Gueye quickly said sorry, and the teammates were seen reconciled later in a mock social media video.

However, the appeal against the dismissal was rejected, and Gueye must complete a three-match ban, leaving Everton short-staffed for their upcoming match against Newcastle.

“We lodged an appeal and it was unsuccessful,” manager the manager said. “We haven’t been given any reason why it was turned down but we did appeal it.”

When asked about more issues from the incident, Moyes remarked: “It was over immediately, it was done, that was it, we progressed quite quickly and it was all sorted within the dressing room.”

Third Story: Yoane Wissa Trains with The Magpies for Initial Session since Setback

The club's recent signing Yoane Wissa has trained with his squad for the initial occasion since sustaining a knee injury soon after his move from Brentford in the autumn.

Manager Eddie Howe confirmed the news on Friday but kept private a potential return date for the 29-year-old.

The team brought in the striker for a significant fee to replace Alexander Isak, who moved to Liverpool for a British record transfer fee.

Unfortunately, Wissa was injured while on national team service before he could make his debut for his new club.

“His recovery is going smoothly, he trained with us for the first time on Wednesday, so I was very happy with how he looked,” Howe stated. “That’s his first time competitively with the group. Let’s see how he reacts today.”

Howe added: “We have a target return date, but it’s probably best if I do not share it publicly. We don’t want to disappoint anyone. Naturally, we want to involve him as soon as possible.”

In other news, the defender will be sidelined for a four-week period with a hamstring injury.

4. Liverpool' Slump ‘Irrelevant’, Says West Ham Boss Nuno

The Hammers manager Nuno Espírito Santo has stated that Liverpool' recent poor form “doesn’t really matter” as his side prepares to take on the struggling Premier League champions.

Arne Slot's team has suffered six losses in seven recent league games, dropping out of the top 10 of the standings.

Nevertheless, Nuno highlighted that there can be no taking it easy when the teams clash on the weekend at the London Stadium.

“Liverpool are a quality side and in football, what counts is what you do on the day,” Nuno said. “We are preparing to play the title winners, players that are skilled and capable of doing great things, so we have to be ready.

“The past of the results before, the performance of the teams, is not that important. It is about the day. Aware that we are going to face a very good team, that has players able of doing fantastic things, so we have to be fully prepared, to compete.”

The Hammers will welcome back Lucas Paquetá after his suspension, while Crysencio Summerville and Dinos Mavropanos are stepping up their return from injury.

Fifth Story: Morgan Gibbs-White Could Feature for Nottingham Forest against Brighton

The club's boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that Morgan Gibbs-White will be fit for the team's home fixture against Brighton on the weekend.

The England international was absent for the midweek European game against Malmö due to a back injury.

“We hope it is improving,” Dyche said as he got ready to face the Brighton manager's side, who have secured a decent haul from their last three outings.

“It’s like a bad back, but a morning sort of injury, one where you just sleep funny or twist funny. So we’re not expecting, at this stage anyway, that it’s too serious and it’s settling down already. So we’re hopeful that it’ll be fine for the weekend.”

The defender was experiencing discomfort in his hamstring after the comfortable Europa League victory, but Dyche said the player “should be fine”.

Meanwhile, Ola Aina (thigh injury), Douglas Luiz (thigh), the winger (hamstring), Chris Wood (knee), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (hip) are likely to be unavailable.

Sixth Story: Glasner: Conference League Defeat Won't Set Back Palace

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner believes that the disappointment of Thursday's European loss to Strasbourg is a sign of how much progress the club has come in challenging on multiple fronts.

The domestic cup winners took the lead at the away ground through Tyrick Mitchell's first-half goal but were pegged back by the opposition manager's team, who climbed to runner-up in the group standings.

The Eagles now return to domestic action with a home fixture against the Red Devils, and Glasner is optimistic his side can maintain their push for a Champions League spot.

“Similar to the late loss against Everton, it just feels that it was completely unnecessary and it is our fault,” Glasner commented. “On the other side, we have to accept it. The commitment was there but it is a game we could have avoided losing.”

Glasner stated that Borna Sosa would be absent for Sunday's match after he stayed behind to Strasbourg, but Will Hughes, who was substituted during the first half against Strasbourg, is expected to be in the matchday squad.
