Ten found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.
A persistent unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their complaint states that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
