It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
